Driving Through Georgia - Tiblisi to Kazbegi.We had only three days stay in Georgia and we wanted to cover most of the attractions of Georgia. Solution was to rent a car directly which is available at airport when we land, so that no time is wasted and we start our journey right after landing in Tbilisi. We booked our car online three days before from our landing date from KM Rental Cars based on good reviews I read online on tripadvisor.
On 19 December, early morning at 3:45 am we landed in Tbilisi, after a long unanticipated immigration interview we were allowed to enter Georgia territory. Our Agent from KM Rental was available at reception, he briefed us about the rent contract and vehicle condition and handed our vehicle we ordered with full fuel tank after signing off the contact.
Vehicle "Suzuki Grand Vetara 2.4" was in good condition with winter tires, 4WD and heated seats, just like we wanted for our winter road range trip.
We started form Airport at 5:30 Am in our vehicle towards Guduari. With courtesy of KM Rental car was provided with free 1 GB Internet Connection for our GPS to guide us our way. We reached Guduari around 8 am with several stops for refreshment and taking pictures at breath taking landscapes.
We stopped in Guduari for 1 hour at parasailing resort on the side of military highway, which was closed because of off season. We did bonfire at the resort to make breakfast, as we were starving from last night. We took some stunning picture at the resort "Shared with the story".
We started again our journey towards Kazbegi and reached there around 10:30 am.We parked our vehicle in front of one market on the side of road and took a harsh decision of hiking up for the Gergeti trinity church. One Russian couple and few dogs really supported us through the 3 hour rough hiking, without them we could not have made it. We stayed at the church took some picture and rented local car to come back down in Stepantsminda. We stayed in hotel for a night in Stepantsminda, it was very quiet place and peaceful place.
Next day, we started our return journey towards Tbilisi at 9:00 am, we stopped in Gudauri at skiing resort. Parking was available at the resort. We enjoyed snowing and snow biking at - 9°C. We took cable car and went up to second skiing station, we played save and resisted our-self from trying skiing down through the mountain and took the chairlift instead. Stay at Guduari skiing resort was best time of our trip.
We stayed in Ananuri saw Ananuri fort and lake, made lunch on the side of road.
We reached back in Tiblisi at 7:30 pm on 20 December checked in Konka Hotel. We went to refuel the vehicle, traffic in city was rough with rare road signs.
We called our agent to hardback the vehicle before given time, he reach our hotel in no time check the car condition returned the security deposit and took handover signatures.
Driving through the military highway through the Georgia was amazing experience with some astonishing sceneries and people there are clam and gorgeous. Language was the problem for us, majority of the people don’t understand English atoll. Anyway we concluded our trip as per our planned routes without much problems.
